In 2008, the Boards of the Canadian Institute for Historical Microreproductions (CIHM) and the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) concluded an historic agreement to merge CIHM and AlouetteCanada to create Canadiana.org.
All parties renewed their commitment to a coordinated and sustained program to digitize Canada's information and knowledge resources, and to provide easy online access to the extraordinary wealth of these resources by and about Canadians.
The AlouetteCanada Portal continues to develop and grow.
The website for Canadiana.org is presently undergoing redevelopment to reflect the new merger.

En 2008, les conseils d’administration de l’Institut canadien de microreproductions historiques (ICMH) et de l’Association des bibliothèques de recherche du Canada (ABRC) ont conclu une entente historique de fusion entre l’ICMH et AlouetteCanada pour créer Canadiana.org.
Chacune des parties a renouvelé son engagement à poursuivre un programme coordonné pour la numérisation des informations et autres ressources du savoir du Canada et de faciliter l’accès en ligne à la richesse extraordinaire que constituent ces ressources produites par et au sujet des Canadiens.
Le développement et la croissance du portail d’AlouetteCanada se poursuivent.
Le site Web de Canadiana.org subi présentement une restructuration afin de refléter la nouvelle fusion.
